Adipex is a drug that suppresses the user’s appetite. This means that the brain is fooled into thinking that the stomach is full. This drug is geared to men and women who are obese and are suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol level. This pill is described as being similar to amphetamine.

This drug is a controlled drug. It is only available with a doctor’s prescription and is better regulated than some diet medications. Healthy diet and exercise is also recommended while taking this drug. It does not give an impression to the dieter to solely rely on this drug to lose weight.

The disadvantages of taking this drug, however, include dizziness, diarrhea, chest pain, rapid heart beat, blurred vision and insomia. This drug is not to be taken by people who  are afflicted with alcoholism, glaucoma and overactive thyroid gland. Pregnant and breast-feeding mothers should avoid this drug altogether.

Since this drug is a controlled drug, the effects of this drug can be easily monitored by the doctors and abuse of this drug is just minimal.  It is also important to visit your doctor before you take this pill and while taking this pill if any side effects were observed.
