Being a teenager can be quiet tough since all the things and decisions that a teenager makes is to answer the different pressures that they face in their lives. In fact, it is during this stage that a person thinks that what people think about him or her is more important than how he or she perceives himself. This is the reason why we see a lot of teenagers starving themselves in an effort to fit in to a skinny pants that is the latest trend in high-fashion. Teenage girls are the most common victims of pressure-induced weight loss regimen. If you are not thin, then you simply belong to Looserville.
However, it is important to take note that the body of a teenager is entirely different from that of an adult. In fact, it is not advisable for teenagers to go on a diet unless they are very obese individuals. Moreover, most teenagers often get a negative idea on what dieting is all about. Majority of them simply think that dieting is equivalent to starvation. As a result, a teenager do looses weight but also gets more… most teenagers develop spots all over them as the effect of torturing their bodies to get thin.
When a teenager goes under starvation mode in the lights of getting thin, what they do not know is that they are depriving themselves with the nutrients needed by the body to develop their bones and the endocrine system that releases hormones which is important for the development of the secondary sex traits of an individual.
As mentioned earlier, teenagers should not consider dieting unless their body achieves maturity and only until their physical growth has been completed. This usually occurs when they are around 18 years old and above.
It is important that teenagers should be educated about the myths in dieting. A growing trend of thin and sickly-looking girls is very rampant in society and parents as well as school should need to look in this matter more closely.
