HCG – Miracle, or Just Overated?
03.16.10
Have you heard of HCG? If you have looked into weight loss at all in the last 6 mo, we bet you have. The HCG diet has certainly made a name for itself. We hope for good reason. The assembly lines are rolling out product after product to meet the demands of hopeful HCGers. Some of the most common HCG weight loss products include HCG injections available at some spas and possibly even your family doctor, and HCG drops.
HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotrophin. It is a substance produced during pregnancy and in composition is hormonal. The effects of the substance can be very strong. Because widespread use has only been common in the last few years, lasting effects have not been determined. Immediate effects have been very promising, and some are already declaring it the “golden cure” to obesity. The FDA has done minor evaluation of the compound in terms of using it for weight loss, but many are crying out for a more in-depth review.
We are interested in seeing the progression of the HCG diet and hope for the best. If you would like information on human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) or advice on products containing it, we advise you to consult with your physician so that you can make an informed decision.
This diet pill uses Chinese ingredients to help people lose 5 to 6% of their body weight in just thirty days. This diet pill supposedly helps people lose weight through detoxification and appetite suppression.
Isolated in South Africa’s national laboratory, the P57 molecule is the only ingredient in Hoodia that is said to reduce appetite, by imitating the effects of glucose in the nerve cells. In other words, it tricks the brain into believing that whatever amount of food you ingest works as if you have eaten a whole meal. According to the official website, the only way to isolate the P57 ingredient is to mix 10:1 Hoodia Gordonii Root and Hoodia extract (20:1 ratio), and Hoodia GP57 uses this “recipe” to give us the pill of our fat burn dreams. Although at first glance it seems super powerful and super safe, there’s no clinical evidence to prove the actual effectiveness of the component. All you can find on their website are some testimonies and promises of losing one pound every three days. As we don’t feed on promises, some clinical studies would really increase customer confidence.
